Right-to-Repair Law

"This aptly named bill would allow independent repair shops to compete for the business now guaranteed only to dealer-controlled establishments. This is important because car manufacturers now severely limit the number of repair shops that are allowed to have the tools, diagnostic codes and updated repair information essential to being able to repair late-model cars (which are heavily dependent on computers for performance and repair)".

And a second article about the proposed anti-DRM law for automobiles.

A little side history is that I'm very against Digital Rights Management overall (when it comes to copyright I think creators should get credit/payment/etc, but I don't think DRM is the way to go). So I think its pretty awesome that there is an effort to remove the DRM from vehicles even beyond the fact that it means that you are not anchored to a dealership for certian car work, and it gives a lot more opportunity for self-tuners to work with the car's programming.

Either way, I thought it was neat (though its only proposed... if you're political show support for it so maybe they won't listen to the car company lobbiers) and wanted to share.

And as a side note I don't get the HTML on this forum. Its noticably different than the HTML that I've worked with before... you don't want to know how many edits it took to correct the links.

phbb3 should end up being alittle cleaner. most phbb format forums have trouble distinguishing bbc code from html leaving your code looking like this:
"<a href="http://url.url">Funsite</a>" your code

"<a>agh!!!</a>" what gets computed.

god forbid you accidentally send it without previewing than when you edit all you have is what gets computed.
